Beguru is one of the stages in the marriage process of the Gayo people. It takes the form of a ceremony where the bride and groom are handed over to sarak opat to be provided with religious knowledge and customs. This study aims to determine the process, objectives, and impact of the beguru tradition in Gayo community marriages. This research uses a qualitative approach. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants consisted of reje kampung, imam kampung, petua adat, prospective bride and groom, and community members. The determination of informants was carried out using purposive sampling, while data analysis was carried out using reduction, display, and verification techniques. The results of the research show that the beguru implementation process was attended by reje kampung, imam kampung, petua adat, and relatives of the prospective bride and groom. Usually, the beguru begins with a joint prayer for the smooth running of the wedding ceremony as well as sending prayers for parents or relatives who have passed away, followed by ejer muarah, and mentawar to the prospective bride and groom. After that, the bride and groom ask for blessings from their parents, family and the people present at the event. The ceremony ended with a closing prayer and continued with a meal together. The main goal of beguru is for the prospective bride and groom to receive the blessing of both parents, traditional leaders and relatives. In beguru, the bride and groom are provided with advice and guidance as capital to build their household. Beguru has an impact on developing the character of the prospective bride and groom so that they are able to build a sakinah, mawaddah wa rahmah household.
